Obama Had ‘Evolved’ on Gay Marriage Months Before Announcement

National Organization for Marriage has uploaded a clip which features Washington governor Christine Gregoire claiming that President Obama suggested in comments to her in February that he was already in support of gay marriage.

Gregoire says Obama told her, when meeting her days after she had signed a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in Washington, that, “You have no idea how proud I am of you. Thank you for what you’ve done. History will be on our side. We will ensure equality in the United States. Congratulations, and thank you.”

Watch:

Obama didn’t publicly announce his support for same-sex marriage legalization until May.
