Obama: Health-Care Law Will Have Glitches Just Like iPhone Does

Demand for Obamacare, Americans’ eagerness to sign up for the exchanges, and high Internet traffic are the reasons for the law’s initial glitches, according to the president. In his first remarks since the enrollment period opened today — as well as since the government shut down – President Obama asked critics to exercise the same patience they had for iOS7, the new iPhone operating system, when it comes to the health-care law.

“Consider that just a couple of weeks ago Apple rolled out a new mobile operating system and within days they found a glitch, so they fixed it,” the president said in the Rose Garden this afternoon. “I don’t remember anybody suggesting Apple should stop selling iPhones or iPads, or threatening to shutdown the company if they didn’t.”

Across the country, Americans have experienced error messages and long waits when visiting Healthcare.gov as well as websites for different state exchanges.
