Obama to Meet with de Blasio in New York

After attending the U.N. General Assembly meeting in New York, President Obama will be heading to the Waldorf Astoria Tuesday evening where he will briefly meet with Bill de Blasio, the Democratic nominee for New York City mayor. Yesterday, President Obama formally endorsed de Blasio, adding his name to a large list of prominent liberal individuals and organizations to do so including Bill and Hillary Clinton, Howard Dean, and MoveOn.

Aides stress that the meeting will be short: enough for a quick conversation and a picture.

De Blasio, the New York City public advocate, currently has a laruge lead over his Republican opponent, Joe Lhota, former budget director under Mayor Giuliani and chairman and CEO of the Metropolitan Transit Authority.
