Obama Nominates FBI Deputy to Head TSA

This is President Obama’s third choice to head the Transportation Security Administration, after both Erroll Southers and Maj. Gen. Robert Harding (ret.) withdrew their nominations:

President Barack Obama said on Monday he would nominate John Pistole, who is currently deputy director of the FBI, to lead the Transportation Security Administration.

Pistole has held his current position since October 2004 and previously worked in the FBI’s Counterterrorism Division.

The TSA is part of the Department of Homeland Security and Pistole would be an assistant secretary in that department.
