The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart reports that President Obama is set to speak at the Lincoln Memorial ceremony commorating the 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech.
The event will take place on August 28 overlooking the National Mall, the very location and day of the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom where King made his famous speech. The march drew over 200,000 participants and is credited in part with prompting Congress to pass the both Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
