Obama on Tea Partiers, Romneycare

In an interview with The Today Show aired this morning, President Obama said that the tea-party movement includes “a group at their core that question my legitimacy.”

“There are some folks who just weren’t sure whether I was born in the United States, whether I was a socialist, right?” Obama said.

The president also compared his Affordable Care Act to health-reform passed by Mitt Romney in Massachusetts:

“I think that the Republican Party made a calculated decision, a political decision, that they would not support whatever we did… And I think that’s unfortunate because when you actually look at the bill itself, it incorporates all sorts of Republican ideas. I mean, a lot of commentators have said, you know, this is sort of similar to the bill that Mitt Romney passed in Massachusetts.”
