Obamacare Forces Applebee’s New York to Stop Hiring

A rather frazzled-looking Applebee’s franchise owner took to Fox Business Network recently to describe how the Obama health law was going to hurt his business and force him to reassess his workforce:

The public has reacted with predictable contempt. One website described Zane Tankel as “a Scrooge who can’t be bothered to give his employees health insurance. . . . A hundred years ago, he’d likely have said the same thing about bathroom breaks for his employees, having 12-year-olds run his fryers, or letting food inspectors into his restaurants.”

Granted, Tankel doesn’t have much on-camera charisma. But on the merits, his explanation seemed pretty credible to me. How about you, readers?
