Earlier today the House of Representatives approved an amendment offered by Arizona Congressman Paul Gosar prohibiting the Department of Housing and Urban Development from implementing President Obama’s rule on “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” (AFFH).
This is an important setback for Obama’s plans to transform the way Americans live. The Obama administration has consistently downplayed its “regionalist” policies, delaying the release of successive versions of AFFH until after the 2012 and 2014 elections. Obama understands how politically unpopular these policies would be if widely known.
It’s important that the House hang tough in any negotiations over this rule. Even in the event of a setback, serious public debate over this issue is the best protection we have against Obama’s transformative plans.
