Obama’s Budget Cuts $50 Million from Vaccine Program

President Obama encouraged parents to vaccinate their children in a recent interview, but his latest budget proposal may make that more difficult for some.

ABC News reports that the president’s 2016 budget includes a $50 million cut to the federal government’s funding for the purchase and distribution of vaccines. His new budget aims to spend $611 million this year on the program, which is intended to provide the vaccines to the poor and uninsured.

The administration argues that the program can be cut because the Affordable Care Act has given previously uninsured Americans access to immunization through their insurance providers and Medicaid.
