The president described the terrorist attacks as “terrorism,” which, sadly, is a welcome improvement over his performance in connection with some prior jihadist atrocities.
But . . . there is the familiar willful blindness. President Obama called the offensive a “tragedy” when it is obviously an atrocity. He described the jihadist mass-murders as “crimes” when they are obviously acts of war. He claimed that the Islamic-supremacist offensive violates our “universal” values when they obviously reflect the principles of an aggressor ideology bent on conquest of the West.
We will never get this right if we don’t get what this is.
