From a new friend (he and his wife attended the NR bash in San Francisco last Monday), a very nice point:
Related to our North Korean problem, I noted the following in the Sunday [San Francisco] Chronicle, embedded in its largely SDI-friendly article called “Missile Defense Back on Radar:”
“Presidential candidate John Kerry has said he would cut the program’s funding if elected and use the cash to hire more troops.”
Let me get this straight: SDI is for defense; troops are, mainly, for offense. So Kerry wants to take money from defense and give it to offense? While the anti-Star Wars part probably appeals to the folks who’ve been ridiculing it for the past two decades, it seems, overall, like an odd stance to take for someone who is putatively a peacenik.
