Old England Isn’t Finished Yet

Like many people, from time to time I get depressed and when I do I often wonder whether I should return to England. Then I read something like Theodore Dalrymple’s latest City Journal piece and send up an extra prayer for the opportunity America has given me to get away from all that.

And when I do and am happy with my lot, I often come across something to remind me that England is a tremendously resilient society. This is but one example. There is much to commend both my home and the land of my birth.
