This is the heart of the problem with McCain. He’s at a REPUBLICAN debate, and he reaches out for the opportunity to make two points: I disagree with the base of my party and push hard for legislation they hate; I partner with Democrats to do it. Oh, and if you don’t like me, you’re some right-wing Rush-loving nut who can’t handle my “straight” talk. And people wonder why he can’t win a GOP majority….
