And I wish–as Andrew Stuttaford raised in his piece on Monday here–that moderate Muslims would take the cartoon story we’ve all been talking about as a challenge. Why the heck would Mohammed be portrayed in such a way? Could, say, honor killings have something to do with it, for an example? How can a moderate Muslim stand it–knowing an “Islamic court” issues such laws? We need moderate Muslims not to be silent. Not all of them are, God bless them…but we need more voices outraged not at not particularly inventive cartoon, but of how so many Islamic countries practice their brand of Islam–using it as their vehicle for oppression and terror.
