In a post below, I mentioned a double-flag pin — the pin worn by Sarah Palin, depicting the American and Israeli flags (if “depicting” is the word) (I don’t do pins much). This put me in mind of a story about Bob Novak. And, no, the story has nothing to do with his views on Israel. Bob was covering some summit, a U.S.-Soviet summit. And White House staff, I believe, passed out lapel pins for everyone to wear: pins depicting (!) the U.S. and Soviet flags, side by side. Novak, probably alone in the assembly, refused to put one on.
That suggests something about his greatness.
