Only Eight Donating Days . . .

. . . til Christmas. Of course, you can donate to National Review on any of the year’s 365 days, or from any of the 57 States Barack Obama has visited (or the one he tried to visit, and that doesn’t count Hawaii or Alaska). But we’d like to think that the spirit of the season will tug on your heartstrings to help keep this profoundly important institution doing profoundly important athwart-standing.

You know whose heartstrings were tugged?

How about Eddie A? He tossed us $100 and brightly commented, “As a conservative in Massachusetts, I could not survive without a steady diet of National Review and National Review Online. Thank you for all that you do to keep the light shining.” I married one of those MA conservatives Eddie, so I know of what you speak. Thanks.

Then Mark S, another C-Note giver (thanks!) also sends along an idea: “It would be fun to see one of WFB’s donation letters from years gone by. They were masterpieces of persuasion. I gave money when I was a college kid and had no money to give.” And we took it! That said, it’s a cool idea, Mark — I will comply.

Can I say “Canuck?” If I can, 100 Canuck bucks from Darren K — thanks, eh?! — who inspires: “Newcomer to NR readership, admittedly from Her Majesty’s Frosty Dominion up North, and myself only half as old as NR. But thoroughly enjoying it. Keep up the good work!” How about you Oldcomers following suit?

And let’s end with Barry G, whose very generous $250 comes with this fine sentiment: “In this insane world of ours, you are a haven of rational thought and discussion. Keep it going for another 60 years.”

We are trying mightily. Those of you who come to NR early and often, get in the webathon spirit, and send your favorite conservative website some love. And by love we mean money. American. Or Canadian, too.
