As we head into the home stretch, it looks like New York’s 4th Congressional District is in play. Democrat apparatchiks are increasingly worried about the dwindling reelection prospects of seven-term liberal incumbent Carolyn McCarthy, who is facing a tough challenge by conservative Nassau Country legislator Fran Becker.

By the way, Eric Cantor was in the district this morning to hold a town-hall meeting with Becker. Given the dozens of other competitive House races that could use the attention, you’ve got to believe the GOP whip wouldn’t be here if the race didn’t have upset written all over it.
