The whole fantasy that the Iranian regime would just immediately collapse from the application of air power is aging terribly. The fact that people still think it could happen with a little more force (but not so much), and that it would conduce to something good, when regime collapse in this case creates vacuums in which extremism flourishes, as well as refugee flows that burden our allies in the region and in Europe — it’s all an astonishing testament to the power of wishful thinking.
