Overcrowded? Tosh!

Andrew, the planet is not by any stretch of the imagination overcrowded. The entire current population of the planet could fit into the state of Texas with a population density about the same as Paris. Plenty of room. Nor would natalist policies, which never really work anyway (as the Emperor Augustus discovered), have that much difference as they are proposed for only a small proportion of the world population. The population “problem” is not so much to do with the absolute number of people as with the fact that so many people are subject to bad government. And the faster the world develops, the quicker the birth rate will decrease. Wealth creation is the cure for the problems of the developing world, not artificial population curbs.
