Paging Qubad Talabani

Iran’s Fars News Agency is reporting that the [Iraqi] Kurdistan Regional Government’s representative in Tehran has called for U.S. “occupiers” to leave Iraq quickly.  According to the Iranian press, the representative is a member of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, the political party which Qubad’s father Jalal Talabani runs.

Unfortunately, the PUK representative’s statement is part of a pattern.  Last year, Qubad’s office in Washington circulated a statement ridiculing “the lies that led to war,” a falsehood and a denigration of U.S. troops who have made the ultimate sacrifice for Iraqis and Iraqi Kurds both.  Qubad has yet to retract his office’s circular or apologize for it.  Qubad, where do you stand?  Please tell me the PUK isn’t simply pandering to different audience? Will you clarify where you stand?  Can the United States consider Iraqi Kurdistan an ally?
