A group of tea-party activists — the Tea Party Leadership Fund — is trying to draft Sarah Palin to run for Senate in 2014, when incumbent Alaska Democrat Mark Begich is up for reelction. But don’t expect Palin to take the bait.
In a statement, her adviser Tim Crawford throws cold water on the speculation. She appreciates the interest, but she doesn’t “support” the effort.
Governor Palin is grateful and honored by those Americans who support her and her beliefs. However, the draft Sarah Palin for Senate fundraising campaign initiated by the Tea Party Leadership Fund is not authorized, endorsed or supported by Governor Palin or SarahPAC.
Palin, the 2008 Republican vice-presidential nominee, served as governor of Alaska from 2006 to 2009. Since leaving office, she has written numerous best-selling books, hosted a TV show, and given a series of high-profile speeches. According to her friends, she rather enjoys her life right now, and though she wants to stay involved with national politics, she’s not plotting a campaign.
