Patterico and Polanski

In my recent column on the Polanski affair, I referred readers to Patrick Frey’s blog, Patterico.com (where I too post from time to time). Frey is a deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County, and he does yeoman’s work in keeping readers abreast of the latest developments in the matter. Today he notes the suspicious appearance of a commenter who, under the screen name “kitty kat,” defends Polanski by wallpapering an identical comment across every post of his in which is mentioned, in Harvey Weinstein’s locution, Polanski’s “so-called crime.” Frey did a bit of sleuthing into ones and zeros and discovered, beyond a reasonable doubt and to a moral certainty, that “kitty kat” is none other than Michelle Sullivan, an associate producer of the documentary Roman Polanski: Wanted & Desired, which aired on HBO and sought to discredit the case against Polanski. How desperate these defenders of the indefensible are becoming.

Jack Dunphy served with the Los Angeles Police Department for more than 30 years. Now retired from the LAPD, he works as a police officer in a neighboring city. Jack Dunphy is his nom de cyber.
