Paul: Sandy Hook Principal Could Have Ended Shooting If She Had Had a Handgun

Senator Rand Paul told a group of University of Kentucky students last week that the Sandy Hook massacre could have been stopped if the school’s principal had had a handgun with her. “The only thing that could have prevented that shooting was if the principal had a gun in their desk,” he said at a Young Americans for Liberty event on campus, according to Campus Reform. Dawn Hochsprung, the school’s principal, was among the six faculty members killed by gunman Adam Lanza in the shooting.

Paul is part of a group of Republican senators, including Texas’s Ted Cruz and Utah’s Mike Lee, who have vowed to filibuster restrictive gun-control measures when Democrats bring them up for a vote.
