Peter Beinart and I recorded a session for Bloggingheads yesterday. I thought the most interesting part — about 6 minutes in — is where Peter and I got hung up on the issue of whether an Obama defeat will be solely a racial issue. What I thought was revealing was how Peter kept saying how hard it would be not to see race as the primary explanation for any loss. Personally, I find it pretty easy to think of all sorts of just as important or more important explanations. It’s only hard to disentangle race from the question if you find it hard to disentangle race from almost every question. Anyway, others might find the more interesting part of the show Peter’s admission that liberals are really, really worried.
