The Corner

On Pennsylvania Avenue

I’m in downtown D.C., where visitors are filing out after the Papal visit to White House. They are lining both sides of the street, waiting for Pope Benedict to arrive. Catholic schoolchildren, laymen, priests, and a group of young Hispanic men singing a lively version of “Resucitó!” (And of course the obligatory bullhorn-wielding Protestants telling us we’re all going to Hell.) The Pope is expected to drive by any minute.

Afterward, the McCain campaign will be holding a small event for Catholics nearby.
