A Perfect Photo?

In my journal today, I talk about May 17, the Norwegian National Day, and how everybody dresses up and waves flags. The women, most of them, or many of them, are in national costumes. Some of the men are, too — otherwise they are in standard suits and ties. I mention that the children, in particular, are fantastic, all dressed up and waving the colors.

A reader sent me a photo of his little cousin Martine, who lives near Oslo. She is exhausted after her May 17 celebrations. I hesitate to call a photo “perfect,” but . . . try this. If that doesn’t say “May 17 in Norway, later in the day,” nothing does.
