In a new poll of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents, Mitt Romney leads with 25 percent support. Herman Cain and Rick Perry are tied for second in the Washington Post/ABC News poll, each at 16 percent support.
Eleven percent support Ron Paul. Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachmann are tied for fifth at 7 percent support. Rick Santorum is at 2 percent, followed by Jon Huntsman at 1 percent. Fifteen percent are undecided or prefer another candidate.
Forty-two percent would like to see Chris Christie run for president, and thirty-one percent would like to see Sarah Palin jump in the race.
The poll asked those who had watched the recent debates to say whether what they had heard about certain candidates made them more or less likeable. Seventy percent found Cain more likeable, and only 12 percent found him less likeable. For Perry and Romney, the results were starker: 56 percent liked Perry less and 42 percent liked Romney less.
