I’m heartsick over the news. More than anyone else, in my mind, he defined the center of the conservative foreign policy thought. I can’t tell you how many discussions at NR of nettlesome foreign policy issues began or ended with the question, “What does Peter think?” He knew so much and was so wise, but was always so humble and gracious. A man of deep principle, a patriot, as decent and humane as they come. What a loss for NR, for conservatism, and for Veronique and his children. RIP.
