James Pethokoukis warned that lawmakers must begin to address entitlement spending soon, or else the consequences will call for more tax hikes. He joined the Kudlow Report to discuss his most recent NRO piece, “The Budget Battle.”
“If we’re not going to do a lot on entitlements — because right now, it’s been tax first, second, and third — we’re really talking about tax rates of over 50 or 60 percent for the wealthy, we’re talking about a value-added tax,” Pethokoukis said. “That’s where we’re going in the next 20 years if we don’t begin to work on entitlements right now.”
