Former top Obama adviser David Plouffe brushed off the IRS’s targeting of tea-party groups in an interview this morning.
“The notion that somehow this was a premeditated scheme to silence people could not be further from the truth,” Plouffe said on ABC’s This Week, noting that Republicans were backed by donors such as Charles and David Koch and Sheldon Adelson.
“There was some people, some IRS employees who did a dumb thing here, in terms of managing a remarkable influx of applications,” Plouffe added. “On the right and the left. they should have looked at everybody equally.”
