My guest on Q&A is Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the congresswoman from Miami. She was born in Cuba, and came to America with her family when she was eight. She had a round-trip ticket from Pan Am ($25). She still has the return portion.
Pan Am went out of business long ago. The Castros, sadly — outrageously — are still in business.
On this podcast, we talk about President Obama’s trip to Cuba. Ily says that Obama essentially gave his hosts the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval. She was particularly nauseated by our president’s chumminess with Raúl Castro at that baseball game.
And why does he call him “President Castro,” instead of “General Castro”? The latter would be more appropriate, for a military dictator.
An Obama aide, Ben Rhodes, said that the purpose of the trip was to make Obama’s normalization with the Castros “irreversible.” Congresswoman Ros-Lehtinen says, “Not so fast.” She is looking forward to a Cruz presidency.
At the end of our podcast, we talk about the American media. The likes of CNN used to be terrible on Cuba. They were essentially perfumers of the regime. They are better now, which is to the good.
