An Iranian Voice

Since the protests in Iran started, I’ve wanted to talk with Marina Nemat — and I’ve now done so in a Q&A podcast, here. Readers of National Review are well familiar with her. She is an Iranian ex–political prisoner and human-rights campaigner. She authored a memoir, Prisoner of Tehran.

In this podcast, we talk about the effects of the protests — on the protesters, on the regime, and on Iran as a whole. We also talk about Western involvement: helpful, harmful, or some combination? We further talk about social media and other aspects of current events.

Marina Nemat speaks with knowledge, eloquence, and passion. She also speaks from experience, and very painful experience at that. Hers is a sober voice, though laced with passion. I listened to her with amazement and great admiration.

Again, here.
