Poll: Americans Blame Obama, GOP Equally for Sequester Cuts

Nearly a month after sequestration’s budget cuts went into effect, Americans blame President Obama and Republicans in Congress about equally for failing to reach a deal to avert them, according to a new CBS News poll. Thirty-nine percent of respondents blame the GOP and 35 percent blame the president, while 19 percent hold them both responsible.

The number of Americans who think that the sequester cuts will likely have no impact on the country has doubled in the last couple of weeks, from 12 percent to 23 percent, despite the administration’s warnings about the dire consequences of the automatic budget cuts.
