Less than half of Americans think President Obama can manage the government effectively, according to a new survey. The CNN/ORC International survey found that Americans’ confidence in the president to do his job has dropped to 40 percent — a 12 percentage-point drop since June.
In addition, 53 percent said the president is untrustworthy and dishonest; CNN notes that this is the first time a majority of Americans have felt this way towards President Obama in its polling.
The tumbling poll results come nearly two months after the launch of the problem-riddled Obamacare marketplace exchanges. “A lot of attention has focused on the president’s numbers on honesty in new polling the past three weeks, but it looks like the recent controversy over Obamacare has had a bigger impact on his status as an effective manager of the government, and that may be what is really driving the drop in Obama’s approval rating this fall,” CNN’s polling director said.
