Poll: Walker Closing in on Hillary

He’s emerged as one of the leading contenders in recent weeks, and now a new Rasmussen poll shows that Scott Walker has the best chance of any of the potential Republican candidates against Hillary Clinton in a head-to-head match-up.

After a strong few weeks, including finishing second in the Conservative Political Action Conference straw poll over the weekend, the Wisconsin governor is within striking distance of Clinton, the presumptive Democratic nominee. The survey found that 46 percent of likely voters supported Clinton, while 41 percent backed Walker. Supporters of neither candidate received 8 percent, with the remaining 6 percent undecided.

Walker enjoys stronger support against Clinton than any of his potential primary rivals. Former Florida governor Jeb Bush trailed Clinton 45 percent to 36 percent, according to Rasmussen. Neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who announced on Tuesday that he is launching an exploratory committee to run, is behind Clinton by double-digits, 47 percent to 36 percent.
