Polling 2012

A new Reason-Rupe poll of 1,200 Americans has found that Rick Perry & Mitt Romney are neck-and-neck in the Republican presidential nomination race. What may be more interesting, however, is that Americans are really, really unhappy with Congress — just 14 percent approve. President Obama doesn’t poll well, but he polls much better than Congress. Three quarters said they would be open to a third-party candidate (although saying and doing at the ballot box are very different things). When it’s all said and done, the poll emphasizes that we are in a very dynamic political environment. NRO readers might find the findings on the political breakdown of respondents (around the four-minute mark in the video) particularly intriguing.
