Populists vs. Managers

Ron Brownstein’s take on the Republican presidential race makes many of the same points that Reihan Salam and I did in a National Review article: There is now a class divide in the Republican party, with college graduates preferring Mitt Romney and other voters favoring Sarah Palin. Our analysis of what these different groups of voters are looking for is very similar. We agree, finally, that Republicans are increasingly dependent on voters without college degrees.
