Karlyn Bowman’s column in Roll Call refers to a poll (results here) that asked people “If you had the opportunity to leave the United States and permanently live in another country, would you take it?” Among Republicans, 8 percent said yes; among Democrats, 24 percent. I don’t know if this question was asked during the Clinton Administration, but I’m willing to bet that the percentage of sunshine patriots among Republicans then was a lot smaller.
