The Power of Terror

This disturbing article brings home the power of a single terrorist act, combined with the mere threat of more, to transform a nation’s life. One is reminded here of the way in which Dutch politicians have been forced into hiding. More broadly, we need to be reminded of how dramatically the single event of September 11, 2001 has changed the world. Whatever its limitations, the phrase “War on Terror” has considerable merit.
