Pregnancy-Center Disclaimer Mandate Passes NYC Council

The New York City bill (#371) that requires pregnancy care centers to prominently post disclaimers that they do not provide abortions passed the New York City Council last night on a 39–9–1 vote. Mayor Bloomberg is expected to sign it, which will send it along toward a court challenge — much like last year’s battle in Baltimore over a similar bill, which was eventually ruled unconstitutional.

I’m not holding my breath waiting for companion legislation requiring truth-in-advertising for Planned Parenthood. I’d like to mandate their new tagline: “World’s Largest Abortion Business.”
