EU Official: Brexit Could Mean End of Western Civilization

Supporters of Britain leaving the European Union (dubbed Brexit) have called out those wishing to remain in the EU for running a scare campaign they dub Project Fear.  Britons have been warned that their economy will crash and even their soccer teams not allowed to compete in Europe.

But with ten days to go before the referendum vote, two polls over the weekend put the Leave camp ahead.  So the organizers of Project Fear have gone into overdrive. European Council President Donald Tusk said in an interview with the German newspaper Bild that radical anti-European forces will be “drinking champagne” if Brexit passes.

”Why is it so dangerous? Because no one can foresee what the long-term consequences would be,” Tusk said. “As a historian I fear that Brexit could be the beginning of the destruction of not only the EU but also of western political civilization in its entirety.”

Such apocalyptic language is so over the top that it’s likely to backfire on EU supporters.  What’s next? Claiming that a vote for Brexit will bring on an end to European music being played on British radio stations?
