On Tuesday, the mayor of San Diego explained that he had changed his opinion about the definition of marriage because his daughter came out as a lesbian. An economist at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and UCLA’s Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation Law and Public Policy argued that domestic partnerships aren’t as beneficial to same-sex couples as marriages and that the state is losing money by not redefining marriage.
