Putin: Homosexuality Is a Felony in Some Parts of America

Vladimir Putin seems a little confused about law in America. In an interview with George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s This Week, the Russian president defended his country’s controversial anti-gay law by arguing that homosexuality is a illegal in some parts of the United States.

“I did say, after all, and this is public knowledge, that in some of the states of the U.S., homosexuality remains a felony,” he said.

Stephanopoulos said the laws were struck down by the Supreme Court.

“How are they in a position to criticize us from what is a much softer, liberal approach to these issues than in their own country?” Putin continued.
