Quote of the Day

“Dogs are our link to paradise. They don’t know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring – it was peace.” — Milan Kundera.

Update: Yes, a many readers have pointed out, the idea that dogs don’t get jealous is nuts. I skimmed right over that. Dog economics is governed by jealousy. If a dog has a toy or stick and is enjoying it, that means that object is valuable to other dogs. New babies elicit all kinds of jealousy, or in Cosmo’s case seething resentment, cynicism, acceptance and then, years later, love.
