Senator Rand Paul (R., Ky.) denied Sunday morning that he is a Luddite when it comes to drones.

“I’m not against technology,” Paul said on Fox News Sunday, “so I’m not one of these people who says, ‘Oh, unmanned airplanes is really a bad thing.’”

Paul, who made a splash earlier this year with a 13-hour filibuster over the use of drones against American citizens, declared that he was more concerned with privacy rights.

“My problem is more with surveillance, not with delivering of packages,” he said. “So I’m worried about the government looking into our backyard . . . [and] private companies . . . looking in our windows.”

Paul said that rules on peeping Toms should be applied to higher technology, including private entities, but stressed that he was primarily concerned with the government.
