Rasmussen: Plurality of Adults Agree with Zimmerman Verdict

Forty-eight percent of Americans agree with the Zimmerman verdict, according to a new poll from Rasmussen.

In a poll conducted on July 15 and 16, 48 percent of those polled agree with the jury’s not-guilty verdict in the trial of George Zimmerman, the man who fatally shot black Florida teenager Trayvon Martin. Thirty-four percent of those polled disagreed with the verdict, while 18 percent were not sure.

The findings are similar to a poll from May 28–29, which found that 31 percent of American adults believed Zimmerman ought to be convicted of murder. Twenty-nine percent thought that Zimmerman killed Martin in self-defense, while 40 percent were not sure.
