The Ives of March

Can state rep Jeanne Ives beat Gov. Bruce Rauner in the Illinois GOP gubernatorial primary in March? She’s a severe underdog–but she’s also getting a long look from conservatives who have soured on Rauner. Yesterday, Ives and Rauner made what probably will be their only joint appearance, before the editorial board of the Chicago Tribune. Here’s how John Kass of the Tribune summed it up: “she crushed it and she crushed him and it wasn’t pretty.” If you’re searching for a big primary upset in 2018, this is the race to watch.
