Re: Abortion Polling

On the underlying abortion-policy questions, as opposed to the self-labeling question, public opinion has been remarkably stable for years and years. Here’s an instructive graph (via Kevin Drum). Given this framing, 41 percent of the public takes a pro-choice view on the policy question and 59 percent take a position to the right of the status quo. My guess is that slicing the data more finely–by introducing the question of late-term restrictions–would make the right-of-current-policy majority in that poll even more lopsided.
