Kathryn, I know how you feel. Most Borders stores I’ve been into did not place The Really Inconvenient Truths on the front “new non-fiction” tables but in the back, on the Gardening shelves (I kid you not, although there is a method to the madness as all ‘ecology’ books are regarded as a subset of Gardening in Borders stores). I’d be interested to know if there is guidance from head offices as to which books to push up front, or whether it is all at the discretion of the staff.
