Re: Civil-Rights Leader Disguised Herself as Black When She Was Actually White

All due respect, John. There’s never been any question that this woman is African American. Race is a social construct and we should never second-guess the psychology of someone who believes they were born in the wrong body. The real question is why she felt the need to reinforce reductive and delimiting societal standards of black beauty. Why the perm and the dreadlocks and the copious use of self-tanner? Why cant a proud black woman be pale with freckles and straight, straw colored hair?
